CHRISTINA AGUILERA
Genie Unbottled
In 2002, Aguilera adopted an image that was as striking as her voice. To go with her Stripped album, she unveiled a brazen new look comprising hot pants and halter tops that often revealed more than they concealed. The move defied teen-pop conventions and set tongues wagging. "This was Christina breaking free of the cookie-cutter pop-star mold," says Aguilera's costume designer and stylist Simone Harouche, "She was taking control of her appearance, saying, 'Here I am—a powerful, independent, sexual woman.'"

A little over a year later, Stripped paid dividends for Aguilera in the form of a 2004 Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for the album's mega-hit ballad, "Beautiful". The singer, now a brunette, marked the occasion by leaving the hot pants at home and stepping out in a custom-made lavender Versace dress with a ruffle of feathers and a jeweled neck.
Christian Worship
Although the former Mouseketeer has done a bit of fashion genre-hopping over the years, one aspect of Aguilera's personal style has remained constant: her love of Christian Louboutin footwear. "She only wears Louboutin. Period," says her stylist. In fact, Aguilera had the Paris-born shoe designer do several custom pieces for her 2005 wedding to record executive Jordan Bratman.
Back to Basics
It's classics-meets-the-modern-era for Christina Aguilera's upcoming album Back to Basics which blends Weimar cabaret, vintage soul and old school hip hop. Always one to match her look to her musical vibe, Aguilera has reinvented herself in what's best described as an Old Hollywood mold. (Think spit curls and ruby lips). She debuted her new style at last October's Grammys, looking very Veronica Lake, in a white Roberto Cavalli number.
